Nine drivers were charged with driving under the influence (DUI) last weekend at a driver license checkpoint on Folly Road in Charleston held last weekend. Major Jim Brady with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said nine were charged with DUI and 32 additional drivers were issued other traffic citations.
The checkpoint was held near Sol Legare Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday. The DUI checkpoint was a joint effort involving the Charleston County Sheriff's Office, Charleston Police Department, Folly Beach Public Safety, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. DUI checkpoints are common on Folly Road close to Folly Beach.
